By 2018, South Korea wants to deliver all of its curriculum materials through digital media and devices. Historically, learning content would have been accessed through paper-based textbooks; however, South Korea wants to promote a ‘Smart Education’ strategy focusing on customised learning and teaching. The Minister for Education said that the transfer from paper to digital textbooks will “allow students to have the opportunity to explore the world beyond the classroom.”
This progressive strategy will widen the choice of subjects for students who live in rural areas who presently don’t have access to specialist teachers. It will also make it easier for students to study from home.
